Origami

This concept series of instructional illustrations portrays one of my favorite hobbies with tongue-in-cheek humor. Adobe Illustrator2012 Return to Gallery

Wrinkle

For this concept, I chose one of my favorite books as a child, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. The samples show the book cover and a drop cap, quarter page, half page, and full page illustration with a digital scratchboard style. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator2011 Return to Gallery

Foellinger

This architectural poster concept depicts Foellinger Auditorium on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. I developed a digital method to create a scratchboard-like illustration to showcase the symmetry and beauty of my favorite building in Illinois. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator2011 Return to Gallery

Coby’s holiday

Each year, the Parkland College Dean’s assistant chooses a commission by the digital illustration class for the college’s holiday card. My “stand out” design was selected, printed, and distributed to 200+ internal college associates. Client: Parkland College; Champaign, ILAdobe Photoshop and InDesign2011 Return to Gallery

Papel picado

This illustration was inspired by the Mexican folk art tradition of papel picado or “pecked paper.” Traditionally, the craft is hand-cut tissue paper, but this version was cut with a laser. Adobe Illustrator2014 Laser cut by Bellevue Fine Art Reproduction Return to Gallery

Ganesha

This illustrated wedding invitation featured Indian henna-inspired illustrations. The design subtly incorporated symbols important to the couple, such as the deity of beginnings, Ganesha. I also incorporated the illustration motifs into a wedding program. Adobe Illustrator and InDesign2011 Return to Gallery

Farm

This folk-art inspired “flat design” illustration features the couple’s animal companions and interests. They also requested I arrange the art into a bottle label for honey-barley wine favors for guests. Adobe Illustrator2016 Return to Gallery

Fiddler crab

Working from an preserved specimen, I practiced proper lighting and scaling of the subject to complete this scientific illustration. Graphite, charcoal, and paint; Adobe Illustrator2012
